Back in the Day :: My Graco Event

Did you know that before kids I had a career? Like a real, honest to god professional JOB? Yeah, who knew, right?

So a million years ago, I used to be an event planner. Weddings, corporate events, movie premieres, galas, you name it, I’ve probably either planned it, or had a hand in planning it. And the best part of my job? I enjoyed it. I really and truly liked planning events, the rush of getting it all together, the nitty gritty details of a presentation, or a wedding. Talking people (usually a bride) off the ledge and reminding them that YES indeed, I am good at this and I am in charge.

So imagine my delight when Graco decided that they wanted me to host an event for them!

It was a small event, something to showcase their new Graco® SnugRide® Click Connect™ 40, a carseat that can stay rear facing from 0-2 years old and up to 40 pounds. But at the end of the day? It was an event. And it was fantastic! I’d forgotten how much I liked to get together details, and supplies and plan out footprints for presentations… oh and me getting up and talking to people? I still totally love that.

It was fun to tell people about a product that I could see myself using. It was even MORE fun to give them away, especially to those first time parents who were registering for their very first car seat for their kiddo. Who would never have to worry about when to change their kiddo around forward-facing now that there are such clear recommendations (it’s 2 years old now). Who would take home this awesome car seat and not have to buy another one for TWO WHOLE YEARS. Yeah, I may have been the planner but don’t think I wasn’t green with envy at the idea of taking home that kick butt seat.

I mean, the thing adjusts to fit your little one from the day you bring them home, to the day they turn two. The headrest and even the base itself adjust to accommodate your little monster as they grow and grow and grow. And there’s even a foot rest, so that your little terror doesn’t thrash your car interior.

Graco thinks of everything, RIGHT?

At the end of the day, I was reminded of why I did events in the first place. Getting a chance to meet people, talk to them about something I was passionate about, and put together an event where people had fun… God I miss it.

So I’ve got about 7 more weeks till this kid comes… anyone want me to plan anything else for them?

So in the spirit of giving things away (which apparently I LOVE), I have a $25 gift card to Babies R Us that could be yours!!!

Just comment below (either the FB comments or the regular) with the one thing you couldn’t live without when you had kids and I’ll pick a winner on November 1st.

Good Luck!!

The Graco SnugRide® Click Connect™ 40 – the first and only newborn to two-year infant car seat that actually grows with your baby from four pounds all the way up to 40 pounds. The car seat is designed for a parent on the go. The infant car seat can be easily removed from the base and used as a carrier when the infant is small, providing portability and convenience so you can easily move your infant in and out of the car without disturbing them.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recently made the recommendation to keep all children in rear-facing car seats until the age of 2. Graco set out to make this product so parents can keep infants rear facing longer while still keeping them comfortable.

That’s awesome! I’m hoping that #2 loves it, because #1 couldn’t STAND it. This was also the child that needed to sleep on us AT ALL TIMES… so I’m hoping a few more things change this time around ;-)

not sure where exactly to comment. :) but I couldn’t live without the moby wrap! Congrats and thanks again! i could so use the GC for the new baby!

That’s a pretty cool looking car seat. After diapers and boobs, which are the real “can’t live withouts”, it’s a toss-up between my Bob Revolution stroller and our Beco Butterfly carrier – both awesome and sanity-saving in different contexts.

BOPPY PILLOW!! Saved my back during feedings, great for tummy time, and used it for support while they were learning to sit up. My oldest even slept with h hers as a regular pillow when she was older. The washable cover was a well-used feature!

Couldn’t live without the bouncy yoga ball! The only way she would sleep was loaded into the Moby wrap and bouncing hard on the ball. Gave me abs of steel, too :)

Many miles and hours put on the Ergo carrier… it was perfect for our family – looking forward to using it again!! ;-)

I don’t have kids, but I have nearly (3 weeks to go!) TEN nieces and nephews! Wabbanub pacifiers were the greatest thing I gave to my sister in law when she had twins.

Well I don’t have kids but I am a BIG SISTER to my baby sister who is 12 years younger than me so I’d say the thing I could not live without while she was a baby was a stroller with lots of room for my backpack and books.

The swiiiiing! We’ve actually gone through THREE swings for just two kids because they loved them so much we burned out the motors. I mean, there were a lot of things I felt like I couldn’t have lived without, but I might actually have died of sleep deprivation without the swing.
