So being a homeowner can all at once be a totally amazing and completely frustrating process. Even though we had a house in San Diego, I feel like most of the choices (that involved the house) were made by my parents since they technically owned it.
Since this one is %100 ours, it means that all of the choices/decisions are being made by Brian and me, and mostly by me. So when things don’t go perfectly, I tend to get a little down on myself. Perfect example is our kitchen.
I have been doing research on the internet and trying to get the best price for everything, read up on reviews, and just do my due diligence to justify spending more money than we have already spent. And yet, there are choices and decisions that I don’t have a lot of experience with and I rely on the professionals to help me out.
Yeah… so far, that hasn’t been very helpful.
And to be totally honest, I don’t know the questions to ask, so they don’t know to tell me, but still… I feel like they should assume with all of their clients that they don’t know ANYTHING about what they are doing… and be pleasantly surprised if they do.
Anyway, enough whining. Things with the kitchen have been challenging, but it really is coming along. I’m proud of the stuff I’ve done so far, annoyed by the setbacks, but overall pleased with the way it’s coming along. We had the countertops installed yesterday – and despite a few snafus (thank GOD for a handy husband)- it really looks great. I’ll have pics once it’s all finished and not one minute sooner – You all saw the before, no need to show the in between… we’ll just have a glorious reveal in the next few weeks.
Of course, I have a deadline now that one of my girlfriends is coming up for the 4th… Don’t worry Annie – the house will be great when you get here!! :-)
