So Mr. Singing-on-the-way-to-surgery is finished. And doing great!
They finished up around 12:30 – rockin’ time since they started around 9:00- and replaced his aortic valve and rebuilt the mitral valve. Without getting into too many technical details, it sounds like he is going to feel a TON better from this surgery. If you know anything about the heart, his aortic valve had two cuspids fused together and was only opening about 45 degrees… instead of 90. The replacement of that defective valve is going to make him feel like a million bucks… I think his doctor’s claim that he will have a 6 handicap might come true!!!
Anyway – thanks to everyone for all of their love and support. He’s going to be in the ICU for a bit and then in the hospital for a few more days after that… but we are apparently out of the woods.
Phew.
I will keep everyone posted and again, thanks for the love from the internet. Mom and I are exhausted and ready for a nap…
and maybe a large glass of wine.
