I try every once in a while to get some me time. Having a full fledged preschooler, dangling on the precipice between the terrible twos and the threes (which I hear are worse? God help me) and being a stay at home mom, sometimes makes me want to lock myself in my room with a bottle of red wine and a chocolate cake.
Too bad I’m pregnant and can’t drink the wine… and chocolate cake just doesn’t seem to do it for me.
It’s important though, to take that time for yourself. I find that going to the gym and running, or a good yoga class, or even sitting in the lounge and reading a book seems to get me calm and centered and a little less manic. But what to do when I don’t have that kind of time, or the gym can’t take my wild hooligan for his 2 hour run? How about a nice pampering shower instead? Or a bath? Ooooh hot damn, a baaaaath… that sounds like some GREAT me time.
The other thing that helps to bring me back from the brink is to pamper myself a little bit. Looking good and feeling good go hand in hand in my book. A manicure, a pedi, or maybe even just a really, fabulous moisturizer or body wash. Anything to make my skin glow and make me feel all soft and dewy. And oooh boy am I a product whore. I am always on the search for a great body wash… one that moisturizes my poor stretched out pregnant skin (now that’s an image I’m sure you’ll be burning out of your mind’s eye) but isn’t overly scented (which offends my hyper sensitive pregnant olfactory system).
