I rejoiced when the kidlet started preschool. Yes, I was happy to have 4 hours, twice a week to myself. Yes, I was excited for him to get exposed to all that learning and knowledge and life experience. But most of all? I was excited for this…
ARTS AND CRAFTS!!!
I LOVE it when my kiddo gets all artsy-fartsy. I am not a particularly crafty person and so before school started had a really hard time getting him to explore his creative side. We tried painting and coloring and playing with construction paper and glue, but I was never really able to get him excited about it.
Having a mother who saved every piece of artistic genius that I ever created has made me realize how important art really is during those formative years… (also, how incredibly UNartistic I really am and need to chuck that paper bag pumpkin I made in 1st grade… it’s really scary).
Luckily I may have a solution to my problem…
GapKids Shine On Saturday
Give your kids a chance to unleash their inner artist in a GapKids store with a series of special art projects designed by Merilee Liddiard of Mer Mag. All of the projects were inspired by the GapKids and babyGap fall collection, from creating geometric masterpieces on canvas using paint and tape to colorful, custom journals to get kids ready for back-to-school. This month only, select GapKids stores across the country will host these events and give your kids a chance to get artsy and inspired!
