Dear Kid… You woke me up this morning to tell me that you were grown up now. Um… ok. Well, you are 3 years old today… so I guess that means you’re kind of grown up?? Let’s be honest though, if you had any say in it, you’d be 30 years old, playing professional baseball and flying airplanes already. SLOW DOWN DAMMIT. I can barely handle the 3 year old attitude, much less the idea of being the mom of a 30 year old. Let my mom stress about that for now.
But it’s official. You are 3 today and its a crazy day like any other. It’s not even 9 and we’ve had cheerios with fruit (your go to breakfast every.single.day), played with airplanes, cars, a board game, a reading game and counted our numbers to 100. PHEW. And I wonder why most mornings I’m exhausted.
Leading up to today we’ve had parties, trips to Disneyland, Sea World, the park… it’s been a whirlwind few weeks and hopefully you’ve had fun. Because some days? Yikes. We, your parents, have not. You are all attitude these days. I find it more reminiscent of a 15 year old girl than a 3 year old when you huff up the stairs yelling, “I’m COMING Mother, JEEZ.” (??!!?? wtf) You are a world of NO and WHY and I DON’T THINK SO.
But in between those moments of crazy, when I’m ready to rip out my hair, or lock myself in my room and never come out, you are amazing.
You are so excited that you are getting a sister in a few months and read her stories every night. She must love the sound of your voice, because when you read to her, she goes absolutely bonkers. And books, BOOKS! You love them. You love to read them, be read to, look at them… every night it must be a book. Berenstein Bears, Winnie the Pooh, and even the old books that I had from when I was little.
You also love to take pictures. Pictures of me, of Dad, BonBon, PopPop, Grandma and anything else that you can find. It’s been awesome deleting them all from our Iphones and Ipads and computer… damn iCloud. But I hope it means that you’ll be an awesome photographer some day.
You are sweet and sassy and smart and obsessed with maps. Like completely obsessed with where things are and where Daddy is flying to and what states you’ve been to. You adore preschool and I’m SO glad that we made the decision to put you in last spring. You have taken to it just like a (yellow) duck to water…
It’s amazing to watch you grow and learn and change and get to be such a big kid! I know that when your baby sister comes in December I’ll have an idea of just exactly how big you are… because while you seem like a giant preschooler now? Compared to a teeny tiny newborn I’m sure you’re going to seem gargantuan. And then I’ll really understand just how much of a grown up you really are.
We love you, you wild hooligan.
Happy Birthday Buddy!!

And for any of you wondering at the choice of music? These are currently his favorite songs. Of course, Flo Rida came in a close third, but I thought perhaps not.
