See this little lady? She has a secret.
She dyes her hair…
SSHHHHHHH. Don’t tell anyone… I know you’re SHOCKED though… right?
To be honest though, I don’t remember a time when I haven’t dyed my hair. I think I noticed some time around high school that my hair and my skin never really went particularly well together and that I always looked a little bit sallow and washed out. So one day I got my hair dyed and it was like, OH HELLO! It was a reddish brown color, an auburn really, and it made my skin glow and my blue-green eyes pop. It was such a transformation that almost immediately I could see my true Irish heritage. I truly had the Irish coloring, with the pale skin and light eyes, I just never had the right hair to go with it. Damn nature.
So I never looked back .
I dyed my hair professionally and myself. I experimented with different shades of red, from the most natural looking auburn to a Feria shade of red that actually had me matching my burgundy couch. (That is one color I could have done without.)
As I got older, I finally settled down with a hairdresser who understood my hair, understood my color and started making me look as much the natural redhead as possible. And so I continued, every 6 weeks heading to the hairdresser, coloring just for the sake of loving my long red hair. Then those damn pesky grays started showing up and dying became a necessity. Because when I went gray, I went GRAY. Like, silver fox gray, but without the hot George Clooney to go along with it. (And my husband even had the audacity to tell me that I should just stop dying it and let it all go… um. No.)
But with all of they dying and the trips to the salon I’ve tried a MILLION and one different hair products. Some of them were amazing, some of them were eh… but ALL of them were flipping pricey. I remember one particularly amazing product which shall remain nameless because I went to purchase it and it was $35 for 3 ounces. 3 ounces!!! I think not.
So when Dove asked me to try out their Intensive Repair Conditioner that was not $35 an ounce I thought, why not. It certainly couldn’t do any harm, especially to my pocket book.
Imagine my surprise when I started using it and it was rich and thick and did wonderful things to my constantly colored hair. It made my hair soft and shiny, but not annoyingly fly-away. My hair looked healthier than it had in a while and felt fantastic. And hey, it’s from Dove and they haven’t steered me wrong yet! So here’s to an intensive conditioner that not only works, but won’t break the bank.
Thanks yet again for the help Dove!
