So no, no one was actually “sick”. It was just my first experience in pulling my child out of school for vacation and making him truant. Naughty mommy.
So the past few weeks have just been nuts. Between Disneyland, birthday parties, soccer games, not having a husband home for almost 2 weeks, and just the day to day grind, I’m STILL recovering.
But I’m guessing that a Disney Hangover is a first world problem, right?
The Disney trip this year was amazing. Perfect. Incredible. And we surprised the Big Kid for his birthday, flying down to Orange County with him throwing out random guesses here and there while we waited.
Bon Bon and Pop Pops. nope.
Grandmas. nope. (please note that grandma lives about 45 minutes away by car and we were already at the airport by this point).
Germany. huh? I wish.
Eventually he stopped guessing and just accepted the fact that I wasn’t going to tell him and he didn’t catch on, even with a planeload of kids dressed in Disney gear. We landed, got picked up by the husband (which was a surprise in and of itself) and then the BK promptly fell asleep in the car, removing any chance of driving past Disney to surprise him.
Ok then.
Eventually he figured it out and there was yelling, screaming, freaking out and just general overwhelmed excited-ness. The Peanut was even more excited by the prospect of AnnaElsa, Minnie Mouse and MICKEY. Seriously, this is the BEST age to take kids.
I will say this, though awesome, it was HOT… so we definitely had to be strategic about what we did. Naps back at the hotel, inside rides and shows when it got really nasty and of course, a little water play!
I seriously LOVE this place.
Seriously.
It was a great birthday. In fact it was a great two weeks of birthday… with Disney being the inaugural event, and wrapping it all up with a little Chuck E Cheese action. Phew. We do it right around these parts…
(Stay tuned for my write up on seeing Anna and Elsa and how to go about it… there wasn’t a whole lot of information running around for me when we went, so I’m hoping this will help others!)
