Thanks to Heber Valley for helping me plan my next family vacation! All opinions are my own though… can’t WAIT to visit! *****
We are a traveling family. You’ve seen the pictures of me, laden down like a pack animal, getting on the airplane with my children in all of their various sizes. We just love to visit new places, have new adventures, and show our children the fun that’s in the world.
It’s Almost Summer, So Where to For Our Next Summer Vacation?
Traveling around Utah has always been on my bucket list after I had the chance to visit my best friend in Salt Lake a few years ago. The landscape was breathtaking and the vastness of the state seemed exciting and full of potential. There were so many places to see and things to do that my head was spinning with the potential, especially since mine is a family of skiers, hikers and adventurers.
Heber Valley, only 50 minutes (and one stoplight!!) from the Salt Lake Airport is one of those places that is perfect for my adventurous, outdoor-loving family.
What’s There To Do in Heber Valley for YOUR Summer Vacation?
Whether it’s winter or summer, Heber Valley has something for everyone. There are so many family friendly options, from snow-skiing to water skiing that I can’t decide which season to visit in. Whichever one we choose, I know that we will have a multitude of device-free options to bring the family closer together.
DEVICE FREE=FAMILY WIN
Looking for something adventurous? How about a zipline tour? On the Adventure Zipline you’ll experience breathtaking mountain scenery, wildlife, beautiful river-front landscapes and mountain fresh air. Soar across the tree-tops and fly with the birds as you take in beautiful mountain vistas, stunning views of Mt. Timpanogos and the Provo River. And if you’re feeling really daring, do it by moonlight!
Looking for paddle boarding, hiking, biking, swimming, horseback riding and hanging out as a family? Check, check, check,
check, check and check. (Too many checks?)
But a trip to Utah doesn’t always have to involve being super outdoorsy and or an uber-hiker. The Heber Valley Railroad has 16 miles of track between the valley and Vivian Park in Provo Canyon and offers access to some of the most spectacular scenery in the state. All you have to do is ride and enjoy the view. And if your tastes run more epicurean in nature, then how about enjoying in the local food? The Heber Valley Creamery is home to Heber Valley Artisan Cheese, from a 4th generation Swiss farm, and tours are available.
They had me at cheese.
The Golf
I would be remiss if I did not mention THE GOLF. There are 5 public courses with each course being award-winning and situated against breathtaking back-drops rarely matched by courses elsewhere. Even I want to whack around with my sticks on these amazing courses… Although I figure I’m bad enough to just sit back and enjoy the view from the cart.
Where To Stay?
There are several amazing places to stay that range from camping in the great outdoors to indulging in luxury… with access to the outdoors. Let’s be honest, I’m a straight up Glamper and without my queen sized air mattress and two bedroom tent I think I’ll take my chances at the St. Regis Deer Valley Resort instead. But if that’s not your style, there are several other incredible options, some even with their own hot spring craters for swimming!
Planning this summer vacation seems SO easy. The Heber Valley website makes exploring your options for activities and lodging simple and looking at the calendar of events makes me want to go during July to see the Fire on the Water, or in June to see the 50’s Car Show! Or to their weekly Farmer’s market so I can TASTE THE CHEESE!
I can’t seem to get over the cheese… and will obviously need all the hiking that Heber Valley can offer me so I can eat it all.
Check it out and plan your family’s next summer vacation!!
