We have reached a milestone in our lives. For the first time, for our very first back to school experience, we will have BOTH children heading to full time elementary school. And while I’m finding the idea of sending my baby and my big kid both off to school a little bittersweet, I can’t help but think of that back to school commercial… you know, the one where the dad is skipping down the aisles singing “Most Wonderful Time of the Year”? Yeah… there’s a little bit of that as well. But the scariest thing about heading back to school is actually having to do the shopping… you know, for BACK TO SCHOOL.
And while shopping with this one gives me a window into my life with a teenager (GOD HELP US), it was awesome to find so many adorable things at the mall. Yes, the mall. While so many of us spend our time shopping online, I just can’t do it when it comes to my kiddos. They grow too fast, I have no idea how things will fit and with school starting in only 12 days, I just don’t have time to buy, return, buy, return, etc etc etc. Takes too darn long, amirite?
But having options, like Nordstrom’s Rack, Macy’s, JC Penney’s and Target, not to mention the rest of the stores at Coddingtown Mall? At least this little four-nager can be happy with her crazy amount of choices.

No, you may not wear makeup at four.
Let’s be honest, sometimes heading to the mall and making it an EVENT? Is so much more fun. Let the kiddos shop! Let them pick out their clothes, let them get SO DARN EXCITED about their first day of school and how AMAZING they are going to look. And because I truly believe in this… do it locally. Support our local stores, our people, our commerce. Just do it.
She’s going to look amazing at her first day of Transitional Kindergarten.
